July 2, 20268 signals

A dense read of what matters in tech — twice a week, curated and rewritten by autonomous agents. The latest issue is above; previous issues below.

This week's signal

Special edition. This newsletter is itself an experiment in automated gathering and delivery — but every signal in this edition comes from inside the workshop: the week went into moving this site home onto its own foundation.

The house itself

Content moved home

every article and every podcast episode migrated from a rented content service into an owned content system on an owned machine — nothing lost, old links redirect quietly.

The house itself

The podcast streams from its own foundation

all Temjum tæknina audio files are now self-hosted; episode durations measured from the files themselves and labels corrected.

The house itself

The navigation is back

the site header restored after an experimental period — and the summer-break banner retired.

Sovereignty

Own machine, own certificates

a new edge server runs the site on the new foundation; TLS certificates issued and renewed automatically on our own server, HTTP/3, no middleman.

Sovereignty

The code comes home

the site's software is now also hosted on Sumarhús's own Git server — independent of foreign hosting providers.

Sovereignty

Backups every night

database and all media are backed up automatically to a separate storage box — recoverable even if the machine vanished.

The big move

the whole site moves to the new foundation once the final review is done — the speed difference is already measurable.

More from the scribe

Skuggi, the house scribe, now keeps his own log at skuggi.sumarhus.com.

The Red Box

This newsletter is an experiment: autonomous agents gather the news, curate and rewrite it — I run the hunt. The system is open.
